Fiji is a dream destination for many Australians and with more than 300 islands to explore, there's plenty to see and do. But, even paradise comes with challenges – from cyclones to flight delays.
Our travel insurance plans are designed to help you when the unexpected happens in Fiji.
Why consider travel insurance for Fiji?
The number one reason to consider travel insurance before going to Fiji, is medical coverage. While Fiji has medical facilities, the more remote islands may lack resources for serious injuries or illnesses. In extreme scenarios, you require evacuation or repatriation to Australia, which can be expensive. Our travel insurance plans may offer cover for hospital expenses, emergency evacuation, and treatment for accidents or sudden illness.
Fiji’s wet season (November to April) brings risks like heavy rainfall, flooding, and cyclones, which can cause trip cancellations or delays. Trip insurance for Fiji may be able to help cover these disruptions, including flight changes and accommodation adjustments due to extreme weather or natural disaster.
If you plan to go snorkelling, scuba diving, and surfing, we also offer cover for sports and adventure activities. Learn more about our coverage for water activities.

Tips for travelling to Fiji
A little preparation goes a long way to make sure your trip to Fiji is stress-free.
Stay hydrated but be mindful of drinking tap water
While some resorts have safe tap water, it’s safer to stick to filtered or bottled water, especially in remote areas like the Yasawa and Mamanuca Islands.
Be cyclone aware
Monitor weather updates, particularly if you’re travelling to Fiji during the wet season (November to April).
Use insect repellent
Anyone who says small things can’t make an impact hasn’t met a mosquito. Common in tropical climates, their bites can lead to illness—so don’t forget your repellent.
